What lands on your desk

The report, not just a number.

You don't get a one-line email with a total on it. You get an itemized quantity report you can drop straight into your estimate, priced out the way you actually bid. Here is what one looks like.

Our services

Six scopes we quantify.

Take the whole site or take a single line item. Most contractors start with earthwork and add scopes once they see how the numbers come back.

  • Earthwork takeoffs

Cut, fill, topsoil strip and respread, undercut, subgrade, balance point and haul, broken out by phase or by area so you can bid it the way you build it.

  • GPS modeling

Machine-control surfaces built from your plans and loaded to the box, for Trimble, Topcon or Leica systems. Your operators grade to the model instead of to stakes.

  • Site demolition & land clearing

Clearing and grubbing acreage, tree counts, building and slab demolition, pavement removal, and the tonnage headed to the landfill.

  • Erosion control

Silt fence, construction exits, inlet protection, check dams, matting and basin volumes, all measured off the NPDES sheets, phase by phase.

  • Storm systems

Pipe by size and material, structures, headwalls, rip-rap, trench excavation and stone bedding, with trench depths driven by the inverts.

  • Site utilities

Sanitary sewer, water main, fire service and dry-utility conduit. Lengths, fittings, valves, services and the excavation that goes with them.

How it works

Four steps, plans to bid.

  1. Send us the plans

Email the PDF set: civil, grading, utility, erosion, and any addenda. We'll come back the same day with what's missing and what it will cost.

  2. We build the surfaces

Existing contours and proposed grades are digitized into two triangulated surfaces, checked against spot elevations and reconciled with the plan's callouts.

  3. You get the quantities

An itemized report for your estimate, a cut and fill map for your superintendent, and the model files if you are running machine control.

  4. You bid it and go

A revision after an addendum, a what-if on a balance point, a question on one line item? Just call. We stay on the job until the bid is out the door.

About us

An estimating department without the payroll.

Digital Dirt is an independent takeoff and consulting shop serving the construction industry. We run the most advanced earthwork and modeling software available, and we tailor every deliverable to the way your company already estimates: your phases, your cost codes, your spreadsheet.

The point is leverage. Bid more work without hiring another estimator, and put the hours you were spending on plan sheets back into the field where they belong.
